REC Foundation Robotics

Texas TSA State Conference will be hosting an INVITATIONAL Robotics Competitions in partnership with the REC Foundation (recf.org). The state tournament will follow the rules and guidelines for the RECF 2026-2027 game posted on recf.org. Any modifications to the RECF rules will be posted in the state contest competition guidelines.

The top 3 HS and top 3 MS teams will be given the option of representing Texas TSA and the national conference in their robotics competition.

Chapters interested in receiving an invitation must register their robotics teams with both Texas TSA and the RECF.

Completed registration includes:

  • TSA Chapter has completed affiliation process and is in good standing with their region, state, and national TSA organizations.
  • Chapter has registered the team with the REC Foundation (recf.org for directions) This must be done by 12/18/2026.
  • Complete the Texas TSA Robotics team registration survey by 12/18/2026.
  • Students on the team have been rostered on the National TSA website and included on the Texas TSA Robotics’ Teams Registration.

Attendance at the state conference is required of any students competing in this category. Students not registered with the team by 12/18/2026 will not be registered with the team for the state conference if a state spot is earned.

The invitation to compete at the state conference will come from the Texas State Conference. To be eligible for an invitation teams must:

  • Complete the robotics registration process by the 12/18/2026 deadline.
  • Compete in at least 1 RECF recognized tournament before 2/10/2027 and have a recorded skills score on the RECF World Skill Scores. The top scores in the state will receive an invitation to the tournament. Top 3 from each region with eligible scores will be sent an invitation to compete and any remaining spots will be filled by the remaining teams with the top Skills score. Limit of 3 teams per chapter.
  • Last day scores will be pulled is 2/10/2027 and invites will be sent out soon after, before state registration opens.
  • Provide at least 1 volunteer at the state conference to help with the tournament.

Important: Ignorance of the rules and/or misunderstanding of these guidelines is not an excuse for a protest or additional consideration. A recognized tournament is one that has results posted with recf.org. Please contact robotics@texastsa.org if you have any questions.
