REC Foundation Robotics

Instead of the TSA National robotics contest, Texas TSA State Conference will be hosting INVITATIONAL RECF(VEX) Robotics Competitions for V5RC and VIQRC robots. The top 3 HS teams will be given the option of advancing to compete in the national contest at the National Conference. The invitation will come from the Texas State Conference and to earn an invitation teams must:

  • Complete the robotics registration process by the 12/13/24 deadline.
  • Compete in at least 1 RECF recognized tournament before 2/13/25 and have a recorded Skills score. The top scores in the state will receive an invitation to the tournament. Top 3 from each region will be sent an invitation to compete and any remaining spots will be filled by the remaining teams with the top Skills score. Limit of 2 teams per chapter. Last day scores will be pulled is 2/13/25
  • Provide at least 1 volunteer at the state conference to help with the tournament.

Completed registration includes:

  • TSA Chapter has completed affiliation process and is in good standing with their region, state, and national TSA organizations.
  • Chapter has registered the team on www.robotevents.com and has the team has a V5RC or VIQC team number. This must be done every school year as does not roll over from the previous year. This must be done by 12/13/24.
  • Complete the Texas TSA Robotics registration survey (https://forms.gle/knEwmfjBehL5zVhk8) by 12/13/24.
  • Students on the team have been rostered on the National TSA website. Attendance at the state conference is require of any students competing in this category.

Important: Ignorance of the rules and/or misunderstanding of these guidelines is not an excuse for a protest or additional consideration.

VEX V5 Robotics Competition (blended MS & HS)

Entry Limits

  • Invitational Only Tournament – invitations will be sent to teams with highest Skills Scores
  • Maximum of 2 teams per Chapter

Additional Information

  • All teams will need to have a driver available during the matches to be eligible to compete.
  • A tournament will be run but no skills matches and the top 10 teams from the tournament will participate in an interview.
  • Engineering Notebooks will not be evaluated at state but they are evaluated at Nationals.
  • Conference competition dress code must be followed to compete.

VEX IQ Robotics Competition (MS Only)

Entry Limits

  • Invitational Only Tournament – invitations will be sent to teams with highest Skills Scores Maximum of 2 teams per Chapter

Additional Information

  • All teams will need to have a driver available during the matches to be eligible to compete.
  • VEX IQ will be following the Skill Only VRIQ rules.
  • Conference competition dress code must be followed to compete.
